Describes how to connect to a smartMini or smartRAIL system using a serial connection.
All our edge devices have a serial console for debugging purposes with 115200 baud 8N1 on a 4-pin JST connector:
Serial console using the example of the smartRAIL V2: orange marking
Serial console using the example of the smartMini: red marking
Pin assignment in the edge device
Attention: these lines only have 3V3 level (and not RS232 level) and are unprotected on the CPU!
The connector on the circuit board is the article B4B-EH-A from JST:
Recommended USB serial converter
TTL-232R-3V3 from FTDI:

Use 4.7k ohm resistors for protection between the TTL232R-3V3 and the 4-pin connector of the edge device.
